Scalo Point, Farini.

Enhancing a cosmopolitan town.

Starting from a general analysis, comprehending not only Milano but also the surrounding area, from Ticino to Adda rivers, a key point was the radial pattern of rivers, canals, parks, agricultural fields and railways, entering the city.

For this reason the general concept for the whole system of "Scali di Milano" was constituted by Linear elements and Points, with the meaning of reconnection between che periphery and the city center.

After the definition of some guidelines that should be used for the development of every "scalo" the proposal focused on Scalo Farini.

It has been divided into four parts generated by alignments and connections in order to create new intersections and interactions. This four parts can be defined as "the Cultural Park", where we can still find some preexistence, sports facilities  and a colored design that continues the footprint of Cimitero Monumentale; the second is "the Water Basins", so the area in which the water retention basins are placed, this basins (according to the analysis) are meant to help in solving the problem of flooding especially of Seveso River (from north); the third is "the Garden in Motion" where the

railway enters the tunnel that brings to P.ta Garibaldi Station and the spontaneous gardens are meant to move around the area in order to change every time the image of this part of the park.

The last part is the central one that is meant to enhance the idea of the cosmopolitan town that started with the design of Porta Nuova, to face this development a new 50 m high hill has been proposed in order to highlight the viewpoint referring to the cosmopolitan nature.
